And The Winners Are! Last night, the 28th, we screened the 12 "Best of Jacksonville" films at the Historic Florida Theatre. Up for grabs were over 16 individual achievement awards, Best Use of Character, Best Use of Prop, and Best Use of Line of Dialog. There were cash prizes awarded as well for Best Student Film, receiving the Jacksonville Film & Television Office Prize of $500.00 (co-sponsored by the Florida Theatre); Audience Choice Award Group A, receiving the Don Davis Audience Choice Award of $300.00; Audience Choice Award Group B, receiving the Don Davis Audience Choice Award of $300.00; and of course the main award Best 48 Hour Film Jacksonville 2008, receiving the PRI Productions Eye Prize of $500.00. Everyone who attended had a great time and the partying went on at three different locations downtown. Some revelers went to the "Gas Knob Pub" down by the arena (formerly Amsterdam Skye), others went to "London Bridge" to celebrate with Mad Cowford. Teams Somebody Call An Ambulance and Jacksonville.com's 14B448 partied over at Twisted Martini. An excellent ending to a hugely successfull second year. Thank you so very much to everyone who participated or supported our event this year, because of the hundreds of you, this event is even bigger and better and will continue to grow and get better. My Sincerest Regards, Mac

Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project 2008 Meet & Greet #1 Well we had our first Meet & Greet Party for the 2008 Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project this past Thursday, April 17th, and everyone had a blast. About 35 or so folks came on down to River City Brewing Company and met some of the other participants in this year's competition. We had a team form at the event, Team Lucky Penny, led by Jay Johnson. Tracy Collins (Tracy Dot Com) and Amanda Warford from Jacksonville.com came down and covered the event. They did some video interviews with Matt and Paul from Team Somebody Call An Ambulance and myself which will be available on Jacksonville.com (www.jacksonville.com). Scroll down through the pictures to see who was there and what happened. Special thanks to Mark Henry at River City Brewing Company for hosting our event.
