Representative Gibson is a the Democratic Ranking Member of
the Economic Development & Community Affairs Policy Council and the
Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations Committee as well as
several other committees. Representative Gibson is from Jacksonville and
graduated from Florida Community College @ Jacksonville and went on to get her
B.S. in Criminology from Florida State University in 1978. She was elected
to the Florida House in 2002 and has been reelected subsequently. She
served as the Democratic Floor Leader from 2006 to April 2008, and was the
Co-Floor Leader from 2004 to 2006

Florida State Film Commissioner

Lucia Fishburne was appointed in
February 2008 by Governor Charlie Crist as Florida’s State Film
Commissioner. As Director of the Governor’s Office of Film and
Entertainment she is responsible for leading the state’s efforts to
build, expand and retain the film, TV and digital media
entertainment industry sector which is considered a key growth
sector for Florida.
Ten years of service at Workforce
Florida, the state workforce policy board, has galvanized Lucia’s
belief that a talented workforce is the key to growing Florida’s
economy. She was recruited to Workforce Florida from the Department
of Education along with the program she administered, the Florida
Institute for Film Education (FIFE). FIFE was an industry/education
sector strategy to grow the industry by ensuring that the film and
television education and training programs in Florida were producing
the workforce the industry needed.
When the Governor’s Office for
Film and Entertainment was established in 1999 Lucia was invited to
represent Workforce Florida on the Florida Film & Entertainment
Advisory Council (FFEAC). She continued to serve on the council
until her recent appointment as Film Commissioner.

Todd Roobin is a proud
Jacksonville native who received his bachelor’s degree from Florida
State University. After college, Todd worked in New York for
MTV (Music Television) where he assisted producers for television
specials.
He returned to Jacksonville in
1986 to work for the Jacksonville Office of Film & Television. In
1991, he took over management of the office, which is housed in the
Jacksonville Economic Development Commission.
In his current role, his duties
include marketing Jacksonville to the film and television industry
and assist projects with permitting. He is the liaison for those
creating television production, motion pictures, national
commercials, music videos, corporate industrials and photography
shoots.
His efforts have resulted in a
community economic impact exceeding $700 million since 1996. Some of
the major motion pictures recruited to North Florida under Todd’s
leadership include: G.I. Jane, Tigerland, Devil’s Advocate, Sunshine
State and the recent productions: RECOUNT, starring Kevin Spacey,
Laura Dern, Denise Leary and Tom Wilkinson; Rocket, starring Sharon
Stone, Jimmy Falon and Lucy Liu; Lonely Hearts starring John
Travolta, James Gandolfini, and Salma Heyak, BASIC, starring John
Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson and The Manchurian Candidate starring
Denzel Washington. Other productions include: Television series
include, Spelling Televisions, Safe Harbor and Warner Bros, Pointman
and numerous network television movies, national and international
television commercials.
In addition to national projects,
Todd assists the thriving local and State production community with
their requests and helps in relocating businesses to Jacksonville
and Florida.
Todd is also the Past President
of the statewide board of directors for Film Florida, Inc.;
Appointed by Governor Bush and reappointed by Governor Crist to the
Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council & elected as Vice
Chairman; Ex- Officio Board member on The Jacksonville Film Festival
Board and Florida Motion Picture & Television Association - N.E. FL
Chapter; and Past President of the Florida Film Commissioners
Association and served on the 2005 Super Bowl Host Committee.
